Profile: Aritta Lane
Former
Fresno State basketball
player, Aritta Lane, has turned in her jersey to focus on
starting a career in public relations. Although the Hawaii
native came to Fresno
State primarily to play basketball, she’s graduating this May with a degree
in MCJ with an emphasis in public relations.
“I came here because I wanted
something different in my life and got a lot out of it,” Lane
said. “Now I’m just enjoying life.”
Lane said she decided to major
in public relations because she enjoys writing and interacting
with people. Lane said that the PR program has made her feel
prepared for life after graduation because the smaller class
sizes have provided her more time with teachers individually.
Her last semester at Fresno
State was spent working with the Fresno State Athletic Department as the
manager for the basketball team. She also completed her
internship in the Athletics Media Relations Department.
Lane’s voice can be heard in
the PSA’s for the MCJ Alumni and Friend’s Chapter. She is part
of the senior PR class that has worked to bring the chapter and
the “Paws of the Past” event to life.
Lane continues to try new
things and explore new places. She plans to work for a publicist
agency or as a personal assistant to celebrities in the Bay
area. She is excited about the chapter, so she can stay in touch
and network with her peers after she moves.
“It’s so important for us all
to stay connected in this field of work,” Lane said. “But we all
get along and want to stay involved in each other’s lives
anyway.” |
