KFSR 90.7 FM – The Campus Radio Station

With music ranging from jazz and hip-hip to reggae and rock, the Fresno State radio station, KFSR, can easily be described by one of its many music programs, the “afternoon eclectic.”

Like its surrounding community, the station offers a diverse assortment of music as well as cultural, educational, and public affairs related programming. The commercial-free station broadcasts at 2600 watts and can be heard throughout the Fresno/Clovis area at 90.7 FM, KFSR.

KFSR has locally produced cultural programming, such as the weekly Armenian program “Hye Oozh” and the South East Asian “S.E.A. Show.”  The station produces local public affairs programs like “The Pusle” and “San Joaquin Spotlight.”

The station is affiliated with the MCJ Department and provides valuable, real world experience through educational resources for students who are pursuing careers in electronic media and broadcasting.

Station Manager and Fresno State alum, Joe Moore, has been working at the station since 1998. He graduated with a degree in History in 2000. Since then he has worked on air for several local radio stations, including KVPR/KPRX (Valley Public Radio) and KTIP in Porterville. He was hired as KFSR's first full time Station Manager in September of 2004, and currently supervises all station operations and programming. Moore also hosts a jazz program as well as one of KFSR's weekly public affairs programs “San Joaquin Spotlight,” which spotlights Valley artists.

The station has set a goal of raising $32,000 through membership and donations. Moore said that so far they are at approximately $27,730 and determined to reach their goal.

“We’re making progress towards our goal at about $400 a day,” Moore said. “We have members as far as British Columbia, Massachusetts, and Texas.”

Financial support enables KFSR to keep its wide variety of programming running and allows the station to stay committed to supplying the Fresno area audiences with programming that would otherwise be unavailable in the Valley, for Fresno/Clovis residents.
