Profile: Mike Battipede
Fresno State Senior Mike
Battipede will be moving to Boston, Massachusetts on May 31 to
begin his sales position at EMC Corporation.
EMC is the worldwide leader in
products, services, and solutions for information storage and
its management. Some of EMC’s partners include Dell, Cisco
Systems and Intel.
Battipede will be entering into
the corporations’ College Hire Program. This is a two year
program where he will learn the basics of sales, become familiar
with the products and set up appointments for suture EMC
partners.
Battipede never thought he
would be so lucky as to start his career right after college.
Battipede is graduating with his MCJ degree with an emphasis in
advertising. With a combination of his degree and internship
experience in the marketing department re-writing the website
for Adeara, Inc, he feels prepared for a career.
He attributes his new-found
success to two MCJ classes in particular. He gained sales
experience thorough MCJ 143, Newspaper Advertising Staff, taught
by Dr. Asahina. He also feels that without MCJ 102W, Community
Journalism with Dr. Rice, he would not be as prepared for the
real world.
“I had to step outside my
comfort zone and call people I didn’t know and either sell them
advertising or interview them,” Battipede said. “I truly feel
the MCJ program has prepared me for my professional career.”
After two years of training in
Boston, Battipede plans on relocating back to his home town of
San Jose, California. |
