Calculator: HP 48G
example:

8 4
6 2
5 7
to find these two column of values, read below.......

Press the green function key then STAT key, choose Single-var....then
OK. Press green function key then MATRIX key, enter value 8 in row 1,1
then ENTER, enter 4 for the second value in row 1,2 then ENTER, then
press the down Arrow Key once, it will move the cursor to row 2,1..
Enter value 6 press SPC key then 2 SPC 5 SPC 7 SPC...... when finished
press ENTER twice. it'll go back to the SIngle variable stat. screen,
ues the Arrow keys to more cursor the what you want to fine like MEAN or
STD DEV, CHK the one or all that you want to find, then OK.

If you want a copy of this, e mail me at mrtwo1@juno.com I'll make a
copy of this from the User's Guide for you...

For the TI-35X calculator the statistics functions are very straight forward.

To enter stats, press 3rd, "stat1".
To enter sets of data, enter the number then the sumation+ button,
   next number sumation+ etc.
To get the mean, after entering the data series, press 2nd, x squared key.
To get the std. deviation, press 2nd, square rootx.

Mindy Crow

Using the TI-85 for statistical calculations:

1. Press STAT key.
2. Press F2 for Edit.
3. Press ENTER twice (You're suppose to pick a name but by entering twice,
you've chosen the default.)
4. Enter values for the x-variable...leave the y-variables alone!
5. Press STAT key again.
6. Press F1 for Calc.
7. Press ENTER twice.
8. Press F1 for 1-Var (for one variable calculation).
9. The mean and standard deviation values will appear. (x bar = mean ; Sx =
standard deviation.)

stat calcs on HP-32S

There is no need to go into a stat mode. The stat
register, indicated by a {sigma} on the clear menu, must
be cleared before entering any data. Data points are
entered individually, followed by the [sigma+] key.
Upon completion of entries:
1. To get the mean...
Press the [x,y] key followed by the {x} shown on the
display
2. To get the sample standard deviation...
Press the [s,o] key followed by the {s,x} shown on the
display.

Instructions for getting the mean and the standard deviation for the
TI-36x:

1. Get in the correct mode-press '3rd' followed by 'Stat 1'.
2. Clear the memory if necessary-press '2nd' then 'CSR'.
3. Enter your first value, followed by the "Summation+"(E+) button.
4. If you make a mistake along the way, enter the value, then hit
'2nd' followed by the "Summation-"(E-) button.
5. On the last value, finish by hitting the "Summation+" button.
6. To get the mean, hit '2nd' then the 'x'(with a bar over it) button.
7. To get the standard deviation, hit '2nd' then the 'oxn-1' button.

Here's my version of how to perform statistical functions on the Texas
Instruments 85 calculator:

1) Turn the calculator on.

2) Clear the stat memory banks.
        a) This can be done by hitting "2nd" and then "Matrix/Stat"
        b) Then use the arrow keys to highlight "data"
        c) Arrow down to option 2, "ClrStat"
        d) Press enter (this puts "ClrStat" on the computing screen)
        e) Press enter again, and "Done" will appear where the answer
                usually does.

3) Enter your data.
        a) Press "2nd" and then "Matrix/Stat"
        b) Use the arrow keys to highlight "Data"
        c) Select option 1, "Edit", and press enter
        d) Enter your data points where it says "x1= " (note that there
is also "y1= ". Press enter to skip to the next x value entry)

4) To compute the mean, the sum, sum of squares, standard deviation
(sample and population), and degrees of freedom:
        a) Press "2nd" and "Matrix/Stat" from the edit screen where you
entered your data. (This can be done from any screen as
long as you have entered data.)
        b) Select the first option under "Calc", "1-Var", and press enter
        c) "1-Var" will appear on the computing screen, much like
                "ClrStat" did earlier.
        d) Press enter, and viola!... you're done!

Note: If you need to edit your data, do the same thing you would do to
enter it. To get out, press "2nd" and "Clear". It took me a while to
figure that out, and I was worried that I would have to re-enter my data.
Don't worry, you're safe.

Determination of mean and standard deviation using Texas
Instrument TI-30 SLR+

By example:
2nd [CSR] clear stst register
Data set: 9,0,4,5
Entering Data set: 9[E+]0[E+]4[E+]5[E+] (4 items)
Viewing results:
Mean: 2nd [X bar] =4.5
S.D.: 2nd [On-1] =3.6968455

TI-34

1. To clear memory banks hit either [AC/ON] or [CE/C].
2. Go into statistics mode by hitting (MODE) and then [5STAT]
3. To enter your data set start by entering your first value and hit the {summation+} ([E+]) button located right below the (2nd) button.
4. Enter your second value and hit the {summation+} ([E+]) button again.
5. Repeat step 4 until with each value all the data sets are entered... be sure to hit the {summation+} ([E+]) button after your last entry.
6. To view the mean hit (2nd) and then [4].
7. To view the Sample Standard Deviation hit hit (2nd) and then [5].

The statistical calculations for the TI-85:
1)Press STAT
2)Press 2nd and then F2
3)Press ENTER twice
4)Type in the X values you have and type 1 for all Y values(Example for N=3)
Example:X1=30.92
        Y1=1
        X2=30.34
        Y2=1
        X3=30.98
        Y3=1
The rest X and Y values should be 0.
5)Press STAT and then F1
6)Press ENTER twice
7)Press F1
