Matter: Anything that has mass and takes up space. We can think about matter at three different levels | |
Macroscopic Level |
Matter as seen by the human eye. |
Microscopic Level |
Matter as seen by an optical microscope. Living cells and microscopic crystals show up at this level. |
Particulate Level |
Matter as we think of it at the atomic and molecular level. We use models, such as little spheres representing atoms - stuck together to make molecules - when we think at the particulate level. |
