Thinking About Matter
Matter: Anything that has mass and takes up space. We can think about matter at three different levels
Macroscopic
Level
Matter as seen by the human eye.
Microscopic
Level
Matter as seen by an optical microscope. Living cells and microscopic crystals show up at this level.
Particulate
Level
Matter as we think of it at the atomic and molecular level. We use models, such as little spheres representing atoms - stuck together to make molecules - when we think at the particulate level.
