This website is for MATH 75 with Dr. Burger, which is a special implementation (FLOCK - Faculty Learning for Outcomes and Knowledge) of a four (4) unit course that emphasizes an 'active-learning' approach to teaching and learning. The course covers the standard topics in a first-semester calculus course (limits, derivatives, integrals, applications, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus), but also includes weekly activities, regular student participation and the opportunity to participate in Friday Calculus Success sessions and Homework Jamboree, particular features of FLOCK Calculus at Fresno State.

Particulars: Additional Course Information for this section of Math 75:
As can be seen from the syllabus, this course is coordinated with two other instructors. For this section (L.Burger), there is a category (worth 200pts) of Assignment/Activity/Participation grade (AAP). This grade will be recorded by the instructor during the semester and added to the blackboard grade at the end of the semester. Activities can NOT be made up. A student must attend class and participate in order to receive a grade for the activites, which will be announced on the course schedule.
For example, as much of the time spent in class for this course involves activities, which are generally 10pts each and are in the AAP grade, there are also periodic written assignments and group projects which are worth 10-20 pts. Students are highly encouraged to attend the Friday Calculus Success sessions, as well as the Homework Jamborees which are after the sessions. (bring your laptops and finish your homework for the weekend!)
Again, attendance is so so important, as the almost daily activities, projects and written assignments are worth as much as the final exam! But also, keep in mind it is very important to do the nightly lecture reading and quick quizzes in the e-book to keep up with the course (see course schedule).
