The 2002 annual American Society for Engineering Education/Pacific Southwest
Section (ASEE/PSW) Conference will be held on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, April 8 &
9, 2002, at California State University, Fresno, CA. This is a call for papers to be
refereed and presented at the Conference. The theme for the Conference is Engineering
Education in Transition.
Specific topics that may be addressed include, but are not limited to, the
following:
1. Engineering colleges and the economic crisis
2. Engineering education
- The TV-studio/classroom;
new approach to teaching?
- Computer in engineering
education
- Engineering design using
simulation
- Senior design-course design
- Responding to changes in
technology and industry demand
- Laboratories
expensive but necessary?
3. Industry role in engineering education
- Internship programs for students
and faculty
- Advisory boards and financial
support
- Promoting continuous learning
- Assessment program design,
evaluation, etc. (also includes education side)
4. Distance learning
- Benefits and problems of
synchronous and asynchronous methods
- Web-based or aided delivery
- Remote labs/access via the
Internet/Web
- Quality of learning
- Student advising/guidance in the
e-world
Abstracts (150 to 200 words) should be submitted by February
