IS 166 Final Exam Guidelines

This test is open notes, and open book. Use only pencil and eraser. Your notes may include any material you have printed off any website, but no online resources may be used. Do not use any electronic devices, such as laptops, PDAs and cell phones.

If you really know your stuff, you won't need the full two hours. On the other hand, if you don't know your stuff, even 10 hours will not be enough.

You will be given a simple, but completely real-world scenario (a situation which probably most of your have experienced), and you will be asked to:

• design the database (entity-relationship diagram + specify table attributes, including primary and foreign keys)
• draw one data flow diagram
• write one process specification in structured English
• develop the application's overall structure in an action diagram; you are expected to use the diamond symbol where appropriate, but no hat symbol will be required; you will not have to worry about any parameters passed among the modules)
• critique a given user-interface dialog
