Before chord 1 changes to chord 2, one of the tones of chord 2 is included to anticipate chord 2: Anticipation
After chord 1 changes to chord 2, one of the tones of chord 1 is carried over to suspend chord 2: Suspension
- x = the number of the interval forming the suspension
- y = the number of the interval forming the resolution
