*Description* Overlooking the historic and chic via Tornabuoni, where there are boutiques and showrooms of the most prestigious and world renowned designers of jewels, accessories and clothing, it is in a prime location for shopping. The Hotel La Residenza is very close to some of the most interesting monuments in all of Florence: it is almost next to Palazzo Strozzi, one of the most beautiful examples of civil renaissance architecture in Florence and the world. With its fortress appearance refined by the smooth ashlar and the large mullioned windows with two lights of the upper floors, with a spectacular colonnaded courtyard, today the venue for important temporary exhibitions. A short walk along, near the banks of the Arno there is another important monument - masterpiece: the Ghirlandaio frescoes depicting the Stories of Saint Francis, in the Cappella Sassetti of the Chiesa di Santa Trinita. Commissioned by the merchant Francesco Sassetti for the family chapel which was to host the funereal monument, they are a very interesting portrait of the rich and cultured society of Florence at the time of Lorenzo Il Magnifico (second half of the 1400s). This chapel also hosts the just as beautiful image of the Adoration At the end of via Tornabuoni on the corner with Lungarno degli Acciaiuoli, stands the impressive Palazzo Spini - Feroni, an example of a palace - fortress from the end of the 1200s. Worth seeing is also the Ponte di Santa Trinita, an elegant sixteenth century work of art by Ammanati, rebuilt "where and how it was" after its destruction in the Second World War.
*Directions* By plane Amerigo Vespucci international airport is 10 km from the center of Florence. We advise taking a taxi or using the "Vola in bus" shuttle which in about 20 minutes takes you to the Station of Santa Maria Novella. From the square opposite, take the line A Bus which takes you right outside the Hotel or it is a short ten minute walk: from the Station take the street opposite - Via Cerretani, towards the Duomo - take a right at Via Rondinelli and after a few meters you arrive in Via Tornabuoni. 200 meters and you are there, we are no. 8. By train From the square of the Santa Maria Novella railway station, take the line A Bus which takes you right outside the Hotel or it is a short ten minute walk. From the Station take the street opposite - Via Cerretani, towards the Duomo - take a right at Via Rondinelli and after a few meters you arrive in Via Tornabuoni. 200 meters and you are there, we are no. 8. By car From the expressway, exit at Firenze Certosa and follow directions for Centro until Piazzale di Porta Romana. Go through the ancient gate, take Via Romana and continue straight along Via Maggio, cross the Ponte di Santa Trinita and you are in Via Tornabuoni, we are no. 8. Remember that access to the limited traffic area, also with the electronic gate, is granted for tourists up to the hotel: we shall provide authorization for the car upon arrival.
