The student will be notified by early January if he/she is selected to work on ATLAS experiment with NSF HSI support
for the following summer. The students will be selected based on their performance
in the online PHYS 163, GPA, recommendations letters, their research experience/skills, etc. Because the online course provides
the students with background knowledge for them to work on particle physics research, doing well in the course will be very
important. When our students work on ATLAS experiment at CERN, they will be working closely with ATLAS physicists
from top research institutions. Therefore our students will be evaluated and compared to students from top research institutions.
It is essential that every student we send to work at CERN will do well in his/her research project so our students
will be welcomed by CERN and ATLAS collaboration in the future.
