• Volunteers from the audience write three numbers from 1 to 9 on a board.
• They multiply each of these numbers by 3 and record the products.
• Then they multiply each digit in the result of the previous step by 3 and again record the products.
• They cross out one digit from the result of the previous step and add up the rest the digits.
• The magician is told the value of the sum and names the crossed out digit.
