math Math Field Day
California State University, Fresno
Saturday, April 16, 2005

Math Field Day is a competition for high school students (grades 9-12).

The purpose of this event is to provide capable students with the opportunity to meet and compete with students from other high schools and to receive recognition that they so richly deserve. We believe that this event provides a unique learning situation for students, and that recognition of their participation will serve to stimulate their interest in mathematics and encourage continuation of their mathematical endeavors. Each participant receives a certificate acknowledging participation in the Field Day, and awards are given to the highest finishers (individuals and schools as teams). The top finisher in each competition receives a TI-89 titanium calculator! We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to involve both students and their advisers in a day designed for mathematical enrichment and enjoyment.

To ensure that the name of your school appears on the list of participating schools in the booklet, please register by March 15, 2005. We would also like to know the number of participants for each contest by that time so that we know how many copies of the materials to print.

If you have any questions, please email the Field Day Coordinator, Maria Nogin (mnogin@csufresno.edu).
